Here's What Schools Are Saying

testimonialsA whirlwind has just gone through our school and it's in the shape of John Hall.  Our visit from John was one of the best events ever!  Even our 6th Graders were wanting more time with him - they LOVED his books.  John's high energy was seen in every presentation from Pre-school through 6th.  You should have seen our kids eating it up!  Thank you for giving us this great opportunity to share John Hall and his wonderful books with our students.
— Debbie Stewart, Lyman Elementary, Topeka

Wow!!  John Hall was fantastico!  Thanks for the awesome incentive to our students.  Our PTO ordered the 70 book package, but we ended up needing a total of 146 books by the time John got here.  And the Catholic school in town sold all of their 50 book package right away, too.
— Marilyn Friesen, Colby Elementary

John, you have a permanent home at our school as the top author.  We've had some great authors in the past, but nothing compares to this experience!  No wonder the kids kept asking if you would come back the next day!  You even made those kids who never get picked for anything feel so special.  It was true honor to get to meet you.  We look forward to having back again!
PS: I was a little concerned that we wouldn't sell 70 books in Cherryvale, Kansas, but we actually went over that amount :)

— Diane Mahaffey, Lincoln Central, Cherryvale

Thank you for making it possible for us to have a free author visit from John Hall.  The kids were so excited to meet a 'real-live' author, and having one like John Hall was icing on the cake!  The kids are still talking about his visit, and reading and sharing his books.  The personal connection John made with the students was especially impressive.  John Hall's visit will be remembered for a long time!  Oh, yes, and we also sold 190 of John's books!
— Debbie Wilks, Riverside Leadership Magnet, Wichita

Fantastic!  One of our students said, "John Hall was the best author we've ever had!"  Think that pretty well sums it up :)
— Rebecca Fawcett, Olpe Elementary

John Hall added sunshine and knowledge to our district.  He had a big impact on a lot of kids - and I saw a lot of teachers smiling, too.  Even the 5th and 6th Graders flipped over his presentation.  We are SO glad he came to visit our schools.
— Cindy Peterson, Chase County Elementary and Middle, Cottonwood Falls

Author John Hall encouraged our interaction.  He wanted us to be excited, to have fun and to participate - and we were all over it!  On the day Mr. Hall visited, the kids got to meet the real live person who had created a special world for them.  He captured our imaginations about books and writing.  It was an extraordinary experience for us all!
— Staci Quarles, Northeast Elementary

Wow, the energy John Hall brings!  I see why you guys (Red Rocket Bookworks) have invested so much in these free author visits.  I love his books - powerful core values built into the storylines.  And he helps kids see that what they have to communicate is important, too.
— Laura Armato, St. Agnes Elementary, Shawnee Mission

We didn't even get the word out about John Hall coming to our school until 2 days before he came, and still we had orders for 60 some books.  He's that good!  Thank goodness he brought extra books with him or we would have had a riot!
— Peggy Golden, Oakley Elementary

Our group at Havencroft had so much fun when author John Hall came to visit us.  There was so much laughter and anticipation of what was coming next.  They loved "How To Get A Gorilla Out Of Your Bathtub" and the "Power of Please".  We want John Hall to come back to our school, PLEASE!
— Anita Felzke, Havencroft Elementary, Olathe

Gorilla-sized laughs! This book is such a creative, funny, and entertaining way to learn the importance of saying 'please'. There's no denying it's affect on the funny bone. Buy it, you'll love it!
— Children's Book Review Digest

Mickey McGuffin's Ear is truly a great book. And it's so funny. I have a strong feeling that John Hall is one of those rare authors who is really on a kid's wavelength - or maybe the kid in all of us!
— Necia Chase, Mother and Aviator, Corona, CA

Mr. Hall, I’ve been a librarian for 29 years. We look daily for books like yours to share with our children. While there are thousands of books published yearly, books like yours are rare. In Mickey McGuffin's Ear you’ve provided us with a character with whom we can identify, as well as love. I cannot imagine a child or adult who could read Mickey McGuffin's Ear without chuckling right out loud. Is there any better tribute to a great story? Rich word patterning – even more fun to read aloud. I've put five copies into circulation, and still they come and go almost by the hour! Good job!
— Renee Ward, Librarian, Poplar Grove School

Fabulous reading. John Hall's books are destined to be classics!
— The Nashville Tennessean newspaper

I read How To Get A Gorilla Out Of Your Bathtub to my class today as did another Kindergarten teacher. The kids loved it. They clapped when I finished reading, a response they reserve for only their favorite read-alouds. Congratulations on another success!

PS (the next day)
I thought that you would like to know that my class demanded to hear 'Gorilla' again today. All the Kindergarten teachers have asked to borrow it ...

— Kathleen Geber, Kindergarten teacher, Huntington Beach, CA

I babysit and made the kids sit thru TWO readings of this book because I loved it so much. Not that I had to really force them, because they loved it too! This is the funniest kids' book I have read...maybe ever. The illustration of the gorilla - hilarious. A must have book!!
— Tina Moore, Leawood, KS

I read Mickey McGuffin's Ear to a third grade group today. THEY WENT BONKERS!! Absolutely loved it. I can't type fast enough to tell you. All my kids could relate to forgetting something their mom told them. They were HOOKED!! By the end they were hanging over the table to get closer looks! I read every printed word, every label. I have never seen a reaction to a book like this. Thank you so much for giving us such a delightful time. One kid said, "This is better than Dr. Suess!"
— Janet Huff, Teacher, Arvada, CO

The illustrations are fantastic! Absolutely the best I have ever seen.
— M. Neubauer, Graphic Designer, Franklin, TN

Mickey McGuffin has a hard time remembering what his mom tells him to do. So he takes a magical journey inside his own ear to see how it works and learns the difference between hearing and listening. Local author John Hall, a Franklin resident, does an excellent job of capturing a child's imaginative spirit; Stephen Gilpin's expressive illustrations make this book as much fun to look at as it is to read.
— Nashville Parent Magazine, Nashville, TN

I've taught gifted elementary students for years, and this is exactly the type of book that students with great imagination and a sense of humor LOVE to read!
— Diane Coene, Santa Barbara, CA
